Coping with Stressful Situations

This six-week course is being presented by butterfly affect at the Glen Eira Adult Learning Centre to help you learn to deal effectively with the pressures of daily life. Each class focuses on a commonly-experienced topic. Each week, you’ll leave with a range of practical strategies you can share with family, friends and co-workers.GEALC Logo

Living with Anxiety Anxiety is a normal part of life. But excessive anxiety is the most common form of mental ill-health which 1 in 4 people will experience in their lives. Learning to how to spot the signs enables you to seek relief. Wednesday 14th May

Living with Depression  1 in 6 people will experience depression at some time in their lives. Noticing the symptoms means you can learn to manage it in yourself or support others who need your help. Wednesday 21st May

Coping with Grief and Loss Grief can be experienced with any loss: the death of a loved one, the loss of a job, the end of a relationship or phase of life. It can affect all aspects of our life. Grief is a personal experience with some experiencing the different stages more intensely than others, and at different rates. Wednesday 28th May

Managing Domestic and Family Violence Domestic and family violence occurs when a person deliberately harms or controls another through threatening behaviour, physical violence, verbal or emotional abuse. This class will outline ways to keep as safe as possible. Wednesday 4th June

Working through Relationship and Family Conflict Relationship conflict occurs when there are differences of opinion, beliefs or values. Learning how to communicate, negotiate and compromise can help to reduce much angst.  Wednesday 11th June

Managing a Personal and Financial Crisis A crisis is an emotional and physical response to some an event or series of events that
disrupts our normal day-to-day functioning. Crises are a normal part of life and can occur at any stage. Being prepared can help minimise stress levels.
